It's no surprise that one of the biggest parts of working in the fields Public Relations, Marketing, and Social Media is working the the media in general, and a huge part of the influence of the media comes from interviews. Journalists influence how interviews are portrayed, while Public Relations, Marketing, and Social Media Specialists often take the primary and secondary resources journalists use to get an audience talking about the corporation or person they represent. They take bits and pieces of videos, articles, sound recordings, etc. and use that in their work. In this interview specifically, Ariana Grande is working to sell her latest album titled "Sweetener". However, what I love about Jimmy Fallon is that he doesn't just interview celebrities for promotion of their work. Ariana Grande's just one example, but he's very personable with anyone he interviews. He engages more with the person he's interviewing about their personal life rather than just relating everything they say to whatever he's experienced in his life. From what I've learned about interviewing so far in my Journalism courses, it is a big part of how we reach the truth about anything we would like to figure out. However, the truth can only be reached fully when the person being interviewed is comfortable and doesn't feel like from the beginning that they are being interrogated. Jimmy Fallon uses humor and positive reactions towards Ariana Grande's answers to his questions which, most likely, makes her feel more relaxed. Therefore, we can see from this case that communication in the media influences the way the audience will be persuaded because the conversation seemed natural and fluid rather than pushy and rehearsed.
